Our beautiful pocket notebooks are both functional and fashionable, ideal for notes, doodles, and observations. This edition, Automatic Writing, features examples of texts created by various spiritualists and mediums. Some simply held a pen and, in a trance state, reportedly channeled messages from entities as varied as ghosts, spirits, and aliens. Others used planchettes like the one depicted on the front cover. The planchette (from the French for "little plank") predates the more familiar modern spirit boards like Ouija and was supposed to make the automatic writing process less subject to trickery from mediums by adding a degree of separation between the person and their pencil.
